Our Own Vow Renewal Film!

Whew, it is hard editing your own “wedding” film! But we finally churned it out, and it is definitely fun reliving the moments (the new ones and the old ones). Brent, thank you for letting me have this party (although you’ve known it was coming for 10 years). Thanks for expressing your heart to me (and totally redeeming your bad writing from our ceremony 10 years ago 😉) God, thanks for timing my pregnancy so that I just barely still fit into my dress but wasn’t still throwing up (and you know, for a billion other things I’m grateful for). Amy Lowell, thank you for writing my favorite poem ever (which I memorized in early high school and just happens to be about being with someone for 10 years). Friends and family, thanks for showing up (and traveling) and partying with us and showering me with some of the brightest, most genuine smiles – I’ll never forget walking down the “aisle” and seeing your loving faces.

Here’s to the next 10 years, and doing this all over for our 20th!

And thanks to all these other dear folks:

Sarah & Jonathan’s Wedding Video | Austin, Texas

On a bright, breezy Hill Country day under the chuppah, Sarah and Jonathan read their vows to each other. They spoke of their past and future together and interlaced it all with humor and sentiment. Check out their highlights so you can hear the words and see all the unique beauty (cactus! a sperry tent! luscious flowers! silver on the cakes! and a goldendoodle in a tuxedo [who MAY have taken a dip in the fountain]!)

WOW - this is such an incredible gift. We can't thank you enough! I totally cried hearing our vows again and laughed my head off at Curtis' swim making it in the video. And you captured that first look so beautifully <3 Everything about it is wonderful. Thank you and Brent so so much for all of your hard work, you guys are truly artists!

Emily & Philip’s Wedding Video in Super 8 and HD | Austin, TX

Emily and Philip have known each other for ten years, adventuring around the world together and eventually settling (for the moment) in China. They’ve been partners and friends as their careers grew, they started a family (of fur babies!), and made countless memories together. Their wedding day was “a dream come true”, where Philip vowed to take Emily to eat pho whenever she wanted, and Emily vowed to root only for the San Antonio Spurs.

We filmed their wedding in a mix of vintage Super 8 and digital HD and came away with so many pretty and fun. Such a treat creating this highlights for these two!

We are blown away, McKellars! Everything I hoped for and more. Thank you for capturing all these moments and making it into an emotional, beautiful and fun video. It'll be something I treasure forever.

Brianne & Nick’s Wedding Video | Austin, TX

A windswept field, puffy white clouds, waves of flowers, pretty light, and couple that is totally attracted to each other and not afraid to show it…pretty much a cinematographer’s dream. Brianne and Nick had a stunning wedding at Prospect House in Austin and it was a delight to film the festivities. They know how to laugh and cry, be silly, dance, and love each other and the people that surround them. Enjoy seeing a bit of it here in their highlights! (Side note: the shots at the beginning show the kind of goodness we can capture if you allot a full HOUR for portraits! And thanks Krystle Akin for being so awesome to work alongside.)

McKenzie & Kentavious’ Wedding Sneak Peek Video | Atlanta, GA

We were so pysched to fly to Atlanta to capture this wedding – you may recognize Kentavious Caldwell Pope from the Detroit Pistons, and McKenzie grew up in the same area as Vanessa! The event proved to be nothing short of amazing. There were a lot of things to drool over – the luscious dress and custom jumpsuit (!), the dazzling rings (which were a surprise for each other, revealed during the ceremony), the candles and sparkle, the models and athletes, and the coolest dancing. But I think the best part were the vows. . . watch this little sneak peek to hear some of Kentavious’ heart-melting words to his beloved bride.

Heather & Ricky’s Wedding Video | Stanford, CA

Brent and I were thrilled to travel out to the Bay Area to film Heather and Ricky’s classic and lively wedding. The ceremony took place at Stanford Memorial Church where Heather attended college, and this place was just stunning. Built during the American Renaissance at the turn of the last century, it is considered “the University’s architectural crown jewel”. It was a treat filming there! From there we headed to the San Mateo County History Museum, which was equally historic and beautiful. But really it wasn’t the architecture that made this wedding so memorable, it was Heather and Ricky’s obvious affection for each other and their energetic, playful personalities. We love it when a couple isn’t afraid to joke around, dance with abandon, laugh hard, and even shed a few tears.

Many thanks to you two (and Buffie!) for welcoming us to your event, and many blessings as you two save lives and do good in the world!

We are thrilled with the video!! The music is just perfect as well. Richard couldn't quit saying great things about it. He was so impressed. We were blessed to have you as our videographer and I've watched it over 40 times. We had a great time and all of my friends who have seen it say how wonderful it is. Thanks so much. - Mother of the Groom

Luis & Courtney’s Wedding Highlights | Austin, TX

This wedding film has perhaps my all-time favorite line in it. During the first look, Courtney says to Luis, “Oh, your laugh is so happy!” Those simple words portray how familiar and attuned to each other these two were, how joyful, how expressive, how in loveThey were so welcoming with us (“Eat! Drink! Have fun!” were some of the first words Courtney said to us) and gracious with their friends and family; it was fun to spend the day with them.

Also fun were the awesome locations: the cutest Airbnb for the first look, the famous mural on Sixth Street and I35, and the old-Baptist-church-turned-venue Mercury Hall. Authentic Austin! I loved Courtney’s amazing custom designed bohemian dress (those lace sleeves!) and Luis’ boutonniere made from a fly fishing fly. Add in lots of pops of color, flower crowns, cactus centerpieces, a pom-pom recessional, and we were in cinematography heaven.

It was a delight putting together their highlights film. (And thanks to Jessica Fontenot for hooking us up with the title text and print.) Check it out!

Save Me a Seat

Freda and Paul celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year (no small feat!), and we were commissioned by their children to create a film that tells the story of their relationship. We spent two days with them in Prescott Valley, Arizona and tagged along as the did their usual day-to-day activities together. We came away with loads of great footage along with two new friends. Even though they’re close to 80 years old, Paul and Freda were fresh, lively, and sassy – just overall the best subjects to film! The family loves the piece, and it even got a standing ovation when it was played at their 60th party!

On the plane home from the shoot Brent and I talked about how we’re gaining a greater understanding of what can be done with documentation outside of the wedding industry – the stories and connections that happen between the valleys and peaks of life. We hope you enjoy this little slice of life, and if you know anyone with a story to tell, send ’em our way!

New York City Fashion Film

Brent and I returned to New York City this fall to shoot another fashion film for Weatherproof Vintage, along with Marek Berry who was doing stills. We were able to move with our models from the industrial, rustic studio interior to the bustling, ablaze-with-foliage streets to capture a neat range of vibes and energies for their Fall/Winter 2016 line. It’s cool knowing this film will be watched by buyers from the likes of Macy’s and Lord & Taylor!

Katie & Daniel’s Wedding Highlights | Houston, Texas

Katie and Daniel have been together for 10 years, so to say their wedding day was highly anticipated by all is an understatement! We love their affection for each other, the super personal ceremony (you’ll hear some of it here in their highlights), all their energy, and the dancing with total abandon. We’re so happy that, at long last, Katie and Daniel can now officially call each other “home”.

It is perfect!! Thank you so much! The song you chose is BEAUTIFUL! I think I have probably watched it 1 million times already!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you! - Katie
